Hope for Aurora

The shooting in Aurora breaks our hearts. Innocent people expecting to watch an action packed movie found themselves part of the action. There is no place for us to put that in our minds. It does not compute. The victims and their families will need treatment for post traumatic stress disorder, because trauma like that affects the body, mind and spirit. It is not surprising to think the responders will need it also.

Have you considered this? Horrors like this don’t just affect the people at the scene, they affect the whole nation. Watching the events on TV can cause secondary trauma. They make us question our religious beliefs. The question, “How can a loving God allow this to happen?” is coming up all over the internet. There are lots of answers and there are no answers. All we know is God gives us free will, free will to hand out backpacks to children from lower income families and free will to randomly kill innocent people in a movie theater. I know that is a lame answer, but it is the only answer I have.

If you are a constant news watcher, I suggest that you give yourself a break. Let your mind go to something positive in your own life. Then stop and pray for the survivors and the families who are left with empty arms. I still believe God loves us, because He sent us Jesus to pay the penalty for our sins.
